Looks like this cat has the best of both worlds.

The Savannah cat is an interesting breed. First crossbred in 1986, the Savannah is a hybrid between a domestic cat and the wild African serval.

Though the cat’s coat depends on the domestic cat used in breeding, it is often known for its black spots, giving it an appearance similar to that of a leopard. In ideal litters, kittens will have cheetah-like tear-streak markings running from their eyes to their whiskers.

However, unlike domestic or wild cats, the Savannah’s personality is surprisingly dog-like. Similar to canines, Savannahs posses a great deal of loyalty and are known to follow their owners around. They can even be taught to play fetch and walk on a leash.

Unlike other cats, many Savannahs do not fear water. In fact, some even enjoy it, and it’s not uncommon to see Savannahs submerge themselves in the bath, play with their water bowls, or shower with their owner.

Savannahs may be owned in Canada and most parts of the United States, along with other countries. However, Australian cat-lovers are out of luck, as the Savannah cat is banned for being a potential threat to the nation’s native wildlife.
