This guy cried wolf 9 times without knowing it

The award for the worst present goes to whoever got this guy an emergency satellite locator beacon.

They should have known better that he wouldn't read the instructions and would end up causing more trouble than he could possibly get into by activating time after time...after time. Turn it off already!

An avid skier was given a very useful tool for those that know how—and when—to use it. A “personal locator beacon” or PLB broadcasts to a international satellites that are linked to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the U.S. Air Force Rescue Coordination Center every time it is turned off.

The lucky recipient mistook it for an avalanche beacon that should be turned on any time he went skiing.

In a 12 week period, from December 11, 2009 to February 11, 2010 he sent out nine false alarms that were plaguing the rescue teams and law enforcements all winter long.

He was only discovered when he accidentally left the beacon on and drove to a doctor's appointment in Boulder, Colorado where the rescue teams caught up with him and managed to fix the situation.
